Design Wall Monday

I finished quilting my Snail's Trail on Sunday and ready to bind this week.  It's looking pretty good that I will be able to cross it off my 'Get It Done' list.

I was undecided of what panto to use so I went back to one of my favorites - Lorien Quilting's Happy Times.  The panto quilts up rather quickly and I like the effect it gives a quilt.

Also revisited my Orca Bay and added the first border.  Now on to the pieced border which is still in pieces.

On the Needles Friday

I'm making progress on my Nantucket Red Cardigan, still working on the back.  I am now less than an inch from starting the armhole decreases.  I have already decided (I think) that I am going to knit the front and sleeves the same way I knit socks - 2-at-a-time.

Take a minute and stop over at Patchwork Times and see what others have on their Needles.
Looking at all the socks everyone is knitting makes me want to start a pair but I will wait - maybe!

Design Wall Monday

I finished assembling my Snail's Trail quilt this weekend.  I will be piecing the back this week and will hopefully have it quilted by the end of the week.

On (and Off) the Needles Friday

I started to knit my Nantucket Red cardigan on Wednesday, my second for the year.  I'm not too far into it but I am really liking the yarn.  The yarn is Rowan by Amy Butler - Belle Organic, a cotton and wool blend and the color is Persimmon.

Also in progress is my Lady Violet’s Dinner Gauntlets - Jimmy Bean's Downton Abbey
Mystery KAL which can be found on their blog.  The yarn is Loran Lace's Solemate in Christmas at Downton Abbey color.  I started them on the 1st of February when the KAL was on the 4th clue but have caught up and ready for clue 6.  I could probably figure out the thumb placement but following the clues as they are given is giving time to me start the cardigan.  Anyone watching Downton Abbey, we just started watching the series and have been catching up on the past seasons.

Off the needles is my Lava Flow Cowl which I finished last week.  The yarn is Lorna Lace's worsted in the Gold Hill color.  The cowl is for my Loopy Ewe 1st Quarter Challenge, which was to use 1 skein of yarn and the pattern must include cables.  I really like the way the cowl lays and hope to wear it this weekend since our temps have dipped down again.

Design Wall Monday

On Sunday I finished the blocks to my Snail's Trail Quilt and as usual I have a couple of blocks I need to  fix.  The block on the right just is not traveling correctly, the one on the left was going the same way until I fixed it.

I hope to have the quilt assembled and on the frame by next week.

Back to Square One

This morning I finished Clue #2 to my Back to Square One Mystery Quilt.  I wasn't sure if I was going to do this mystery quilt but at the first of February I thought what the heck I was going to join in.  That least this quilt will have an excuse why it is taking so long to finish.  All the information on this mystery quilt can be found over at Patchwork Times under Group Projects.

And this is January's Clue completed.

And this also gets one thing completed on my 'Get It Done' list.

What's on the Kindle

I am not a fast reader so it may take me a bit to finish a book.  I guess if I didn't have other interests I would get more read but that can also be said for knitting, quilting, etc.

Currently I am reading A Scattered Life by Karen McQuestion.  I have read 2 other books by Karen and I like the way she writes, easy to follow especially since I read while my husband is watching TV.  I first read The Long Way Home last summer and really enjoyed it.  Then my husband got me a new Kindle (Fire HD) and I had a free month of Amazon prime so I read Edgewood and liked that also.

Current Knitting Project

Saturday I finally started my Loopy Ewe First Quarter Challenge project.  The challenge is to knit only using one skein of yarn and pattern must include cables.  I am knitting Lava Flow Cowl out of Lorna Lace's Shepherd Worsted, the color is Gold Hill.  I'm really loving this yarn and the colors too.  The pattern is easy and with worsted I should be done with it rather quickly.  I'm glad this is a quick knit because living in the South the window of opportunity to wear it is coming to a close.

Off to knit another pattern repeat

Design Wall Monday

I'm spending time working on my Snail's Trail today.  So far I have finished 12 of the 30 blocks I need and since I don't have any plans for today I am hoping to get most of the remaining ones done today.

January 2013 Finishes

I have 2 finished projects for January.

First is the big one - my Easy Street Quilt.  The finished quilt measures 96" x 96"
It was a great mystery held by Bonnie Hunter this past December.  I really liked the pace of this one, it was really easy to keep up each week with the clues especially with everything else I usually have going on.

Next is my Cherry Vanilla Cardigan which was a KAL for the YOSS Raverly Group.  This is my first cardigan and I can't believe I did it in a month's time.  The pattern is by Thea Coleman and the next cardigan I have yarn for is also designed by Thea is called Nantucket Red but my will be coral.

Following along with JudyL at Patchwork Time I am also have a 'Get It Done' list.  I added it to the top of my right sidebar to remind me every time I log on what I need to focus on for the month.

February list includes:
 Snail's Trail Quilt
Quilt and Bind Split 4 Patch Quilt
 Add borders to Orca Bay
Jan. & Feb. Back to Square One Quilt
