Design Wall Monday

I finished the quilting on my Easy Street quilt yesterday and now onto the binding.  The panto I used was Fay Feathers by Lorien Quilting - one of my favorites.  I'm looking forward to have this finished and on my bed by Thursday evening.

Between knitting and quilting Easy Street I was only able to get one set of my Snail's Trail quilt done.  I have a total of 10 combination of black and white and red fabrics selected and from those I am able to make 3 blocks from each set.  My goal for next week is to get all the blocks done.

On the Needles Friday

Our weather is terrible today, cold and freezing rain that is suppose to last late into the evening.  I was a little nervous this morning because my husband was flying back from Philly this morning and I was hoping he would be home before the storm got here - which he did.

Since I was up early today I was able to finish the body of my Cherry Vanilla Cardigan and get a start on one of the sleeves.  I'm hoping I can get that sleeve done today and the second one done over the weekend.  It's looking real good that I will finish before month's end.

I'm also spending a little time on Easy Street.  I loaded the quilt last Sunday, quilted a couple of rows on Wednesday and I'm going to try to finish the quilting today.

Or may just curl up in a quilt and read a book (or take a nap).

Design Wall Monday

Yesterday I finished my Easy Street, was able to piece the backing and pieced the batting from leftover scraps just to be frugal.  I now have it loaded on the frame and ready to quilt this week.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture before I loaded it but will post a finished (I hope) quilt next week.

The next quilt I have planned is a Snail's Trail.  I have always wanted to make one but never decided on the fabrics.  The decision made - it will be black and white and red.

Working on Easy Street

Today I finished adding the borders to my Easy Street Quilt.   It's been awhile since I made a quilt this big, it finished at 99' x 99"   This will be my first finish of the year.

I naturally had help in the sewing room.  Ar-Zo was helping me press the quilt - he was working on the bottom while I was ironing the top half.

The Kasey was bored with the whole process and found her spot over in the corner.

 Nice, quiet day at home.

On The Needles Friday

Been MIA again but I'm back.  I really had plans of working on a quilt this morning but the only thing I have done is knitted.  Making some progress on my Cherry Vanilla Cardigan.  The Raverly Group YOSS KAL ends at the end of the month and I'm not sure I'm going to finish in time for any of the drawings but I am sure going to give it a try.  About 6 more inches on the body to go, then 3/4 sleeves and the banding.

Darn Loopy Ewe announced their 1st Quarter Challenge and it's an easy/quick one - one skein of yarn and pattern must include a cable.  So I decided to place my order of yarn for the challenge and my next cardigan.  For the challenge I decided to knit Lava Flow Cowl using Lorna Lace's Shepherd Worsted in the Gold Hill colorway.  The knit should go quickly using worsted and size 8 needles.

For the next cardigan I am going to knit Theo Coleman's pattern Nantucket Red in Rowan Belle Organic DK in Persimmon

On The Needles Friday

I'm starting off the year with working on a cardigan, my first.  I am knitting along with  the Raverly Group YOSS and doing the Thea Colman KAL.  I have chosen the pattern called Cherry Vanilla and am using Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton.  The picture is of the lace pattern that goes down the back of the cardigan.  Love the stitch definition of the cotton yarn.

On Sunday Jimmy Beans starts a Mystery KAL using Lorna Laces Sportmate, the colorway and name of the KAL is Christmas at Downton.  This mystery KAL is 8 weeks long and clues are posted on their blog each Sunday.
