On The Needles Friday

Project #2 Camp Loopy started on Wednesday so my Boneyard Shawl went into hibernation. The requirements for project #2 is to knit a minimum of 800 yards and must have a color from your country's flag in it. I am knitting Stripe Study Shawl using Spud & Chloe yarn - colors are Snorkel and Dolphin. I was able to get through the 6th stripe this morning with 6 more to go but with the rows are getting longer (even the short rows are getting longer) and my progress is slowing. My goal is to be on the second skein of the lighter blue by next Friday - skeins are 65g and I have used 28g so far, about 146 total yards knit so far counting both colors.

Life is HOT here in SC - may just stay in and knit - sew - read - whatever keeps me cool.

Design Floor Monday

Being true to myself I have started another quilt before finishing the previous one.  My next quilt is inspired by Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trip Aroung the World.  Where Bonnie's is scrappy mine is controlled.  It is coming together rather quickly and should have this lap size quilt together in the next couple of days.

My Goose Chase quilt top is now completed and ready for quilting once I trim the threads on the back.  I hate trimming threads but with a white background there is no choice but to trim.

On The Needles Friday

Making slow progress on my Boneyard Shawl.  I would have been farther if I didn't re-knit a 2 inch section 3 times.  Easy pattern, mindless knitting but still need to pay a little bit of attention.
This is a great knit to do with the first cup of coffee while still sleepy - this is my
Wake Up Knit.

Camp Loopy Project 2 starts on the 27th and I am ready to start my Stripe Study Shawl.

Camp Loopy

One more week to the beginning of Project #2 for Camp Loopy and I am all set to cast on.

For Project #2 I will be knitting Stripe Study Shawl using Spud and Chloe Fine in Snorkel and Dolphin.  The challenge for Project #2 is to knit minimum 800 yards and the item needs to have at least one color from your own country's flag.

My Hogwarts Express for Project #1 I finished on on June 9th.  That's a great knit and I will more than likely knit again.  Love those little Owls!

Loving Camp Loopy!

Design Lawn (Wall) Monday

Making progress on my Goose Chase.  I was able to get the body of the quilt done today and I will hopefully get the borders attached before weeks end.  Only one set of geese didn't want to fly right but now that I got them on the right flight path everything went together great.

I'm dreaming of having this quilted before next Monday - I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

On the Needles Friday

Since I had finished my Camp Loopy Project #1 last Saturday I needed something quick to keep my hands limber for Project #2 (which starts on June 27th) I found a quick pair of socks to knit.  The pattern I used is Travel Socks and these knitted up really fast.  The yarn is Fascination from Cascade, it's a DK weight and the pattern called for size 5 needles.  These are going to make great bed socks, the yarn is 98% cotton and 2% elastic.

Now that the socks were done I casted on Boneyard Shawl this morning and
this should keep me occupied until the 27th - more than likely I will not be finished by then.
The yarn is Knit Picks Swish in worsted weight - color is Rainforest.

It's 90 degrees outside and I'm knitting a worsted weight shawl - must have cooler temps on my mind.

Design Wall Monday

Now that I have my Camp Loopy Project #1 finished I can concentrate on some quilting.
When I was working on the border for my Spiky Stars quilt I some how miscounted on the number of flying geese I needed for the border and ended up with 56 extra.  So I am making 88 more and assembling a Goose Chase lap-size quilt. My favorite way to assemble flying geese when the background is the same fabric is using my Quilt in a Day ruler.

On The Needles Friday

JudyL at Patchwork Times conceived the idea to keep her accountable by starting a Friday link.  Since I usually have something on the needles (sometimes working or in hibernation) I am going to participate to keep me motivated so I don't have as many WIP (work in progress) knitting projects as I do quilts.
This week is not what's 'On' the Needles, it is what's coming 'Off' the Needles.  I am finishing up my Hogwarts Express I was doing for my Camp Loopy  Project #1.  We needed to knit a minimum of 400 yards and I should finish up using approximately 405 yards for this shawl.  This is my first beaded knitting project and I am sure to do more.

Drop over to Patchwork Times to see what others have on their Needles.

Happy Knitting!
